In addition to those wonderful records, the guys just collaborated to write the music for the stage production of SE Hinton’s classic novel The Outsiders. Willy’s musical work includes excellent records as frontman of the band Richmond Fontaine and recent also wonderful albums as the primary songwriter and guitar player for The Delines.

His excellent novels include The Motel Life, Northline, Lean on Pete, The Free, Don’t Skip Out on Me, and his most recent book The Night Always Comes.

His work with South San Gabriel bridged the gap between Centro-matic and Johnson’s excellent solo records, including his most recent albums Wire Mountain and El Capitan.
